After a video of Kollywood actress Meera Mithun expressing casteist remarks appeared on Twitter, several police complaints were filed seeking her arrest. She is a part-time actress who previously appeared in season 3 of Big Boss Tamil.
Meera declared in an interview with a YouTube channel that the scheduled caste film employees should be terminated. She also stated that SC Community members faced problems mostly as they are involved in unlawful activities and corruption. No one will unduly disparage someone without a valid basis. I believe it is time to fire all of the scheduled caste actors and directors from the industry.
After the video went viral on Twitter, VCK Chief and MP Thol Thirumavalavan tweeted it and demanded Meera Mithun’s arrest. The VCK leader, former MP Vanni Arasu, and several other Tamil Nadu organisations filed police complaints against the actress on Saturday.
According to reports, the actor has been charged with violating sections 153, 153A(1)(a), 505(1)(b), and 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as many sections of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.In the complaint against her, the Tamil Nadu Untouchability Eradication Front is a co-complainant.
Meera was apprehended today in Kerela by the Chennai Cyber Crime Police. A video of her taken moments before her imprisonment is currently viral on social media. Meera was shouting that the cops had arrived to arrest her and that the arrest was an injustice to a successful woman in the video.
